Writing about the world as it happens is an exercise that takes a lot. Especially when the world you write about is as ever evolving as the world of AI. Why just two weeks ago, I wrote to you in my mid-month update about the state of AI in Feb 2024. Well, no sooner had I published it, there were two ground-breaking announcements in the AI world:

1. Google released Gemini 1.5 Pro, a model that can handle a context length of 1 million tokens.

2. OpenAI announces Sora, a new text to video generation model.

Both momentous occasions of their own kind, both breaking new ground, both coming out mere hours after I published my mid-month update. While I’ll be here with my comments on these developments by the middle of the month, I hope you will go ahead and read more about these.

Meanwhile, today’s the time for some AI art. So on with the show!

1. Let’s Fly Away…

The serenity of this scene is so well done. I’ll probably make this my new desktop wallpaper.

2. A Magical Fairy

I love the stained ancient vibe of this one.

3. A Reporter’s Desk

Don’t zoom in too much, this one is quite obviously AI generated haha. AI images still struggle with detailing and accuracy with increasing complexity in the scene.

4. The Faces of Greed

This reminded me of the original Deepdream images which had dog faces in everything. How far we’ve come!

5. Friday Night Lights

I think this is the most realistic person I have generated on my Midjourney adventures.

6. She Runs The Place

7. Believe In Me

Propaganda postercore is quite the vibe.

8. Salad Bar Evening

Lots of food is another output that the slightest of zooming in would reveal to you that an image is Ai generated.

9. The Monolith

I don’t know why but this feels like something made by an alien…

10. Creative Breakthrough

I don’t know what a creative breakthrough looks like, but if it looks like this, I would like to have one every day.

Conclusion

The AI Art Showcase series is my favorite part of writing Future Telescope. As I create more and more images to explore the capabilities of AI art, picking the top 10 is usually the most difficult part.
