As more readers like you start becoming a part of the Future Telescope community, I like to re-share some of my earlier writing. One example was my post on AI taking jobs.
Today, I’m re-sharing reading/watching recommendations from past editions. Hope you like them!
1. Things I Think Are Awesome by Lynn Cherny
A once-a-month newsletter full of links and discussion about the cutting-edge of AI and NLP applications. I have personally created a large chunk of my AI knowledge-base from this newsletter and highly recommend it to you, dear reader.
2. Always Be Curious by Sander at ASML
Sander works at ASML. He is at the front seat of the breakthroughs in semiconductor technologies. These semiconductor technologies are at the heart of all that powers AI development today. His deep involvement with this world enables him to share with us the latest news and developments in his world.
I treasure the opportunity to hear directly from such individuals and learn exactly where our world is headed. We need more people like Sander who empower the world by sharing their knowledge with it. Imagine if a leader at Nvidia or Microsoft ran a newsletter like this. How cool would that be!
3. Listen to Decoder by Vox Media
I started this newsletter inspired by a conversation I listened to on the Vox Media podcast Decoder, hosted by Nilay Patel.
Nilay has been reporting on tech since 2008. He was one of the founding members of my favorite tech website The Verge in 2011. Since then he has become the editor-in-chief of The Verge. His knowledge of technology and the media landscape is a treasure trove, and his straightforward questions to guests on Decoder have zero faff.
His guest list on the podcast includes Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, Airbnb’s Brian Chesky, and similar stalwarts. In fact, Nilay’s conversation with Satya Nadella about AI was the inspiration that started off Future Telescope back in Feb 2023.
Here’s a taste of Decoder on Spotify. You can also find it on Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, and in transcript form.
4.Recomendo by Cool Tools Lab
A few tools, websites, apps, and other knickknacks, recommended to you every week. Many AI tools that I started using came to me through this newsletter. They have lots more non-AI recommendations too, and are all around the most chill recommendation source around. Check them out!
5. Two Minute Papers on Youtube
Károly Zsolnai-Fehér is an AI researcher who loves to bring the latest in AI technologies to a mass audience. It was on his channel that I learned about breakthrough papers in the field of AI, and he continues to deliver gems like the above video. Highly recommended source to keep you on top of breakthrough developments in AI technologies.
Further Thoughts
25 editions down! It’s been a lot of fun sharing this newsletter with you every week and keeping myself engaged and up to date on the goings on in the field of AI.
I hope these recommendations help you engage even better with the beautiful world of our future being built right in front of our eyes.
That’s it for the 25th draft, see you next week!
👌👌
Great recommendations, big fan of decoder!
